CLEANER FUEL
At MSC Cruises, we value beauty and want to preserve it. That’s the reason why our new ships are powered by the cleanest marine fuel available at scale today: Liquified Natural Gas (LNG). LNG is still a fossil fuel, but using it we can reduce CO2e emissions by up to 20%, sulphur oxide (SOx), particulate emissions by 99% and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to 85%, compared to conventional marine fuels. LNG is a fuel in transition too, so hopefully, in the not-so-distant future, we will be able to use bio and synthetic LNG and further decrease our impact on the journey to Net Zero GHG emissions.

QUIETER PROPELLERS
They say that silence is one of the most beautiful sounds. Our propellers are not yet completely quiet, but thanks to innovative solutions that uses compressed air, we are able to lower propeller noise on our new ships. Combined with an innovative hull design, they vibrate less and emit less noise. Consequently, they have a smaller impact on the marine fauna and improve the acoustic comfort of our guests and crew.

PRECIOUS WATER
At MSC Cruises, we know how precious water is. This is why over 85% of the freshwater across our fleet is produced on board through a desalination process. This water has many lives onboard, from showers and drinking fountains to a glass of beer which we brew on board. Even more importantly, we care a lot about the water even after we use it. Our wastewater treatment systems make sure that if the water returns back to the sea, it is cleaned and treated to the highest standards.
